I started this guide because I love movies, but don’t love most of them enough to watch more than once. Over the past year I have tried a number of services and heard from visitors who have tried others. Yet I always return to Netflix or Blockbuster, each having the largest selection of movies and the most distribution centers.

Why wont netflix movies play on my TV when my laptop is hooked up via VGA cable?

I recently bought a VGA cable to hook up my LCD laptop to my LCD tv. It works fine in most cases, but for some reason netflix instant movies do not. The movies play on laptop but the television just shows a purple box. Does anyone know why this is or how i can fix it? Thanks in advance!

Sounds like the dreaded DRM. Netflix WatchInstantly movies are protected by Microsoft Digital Rights Management software at the insistence of the movies studios. Playing through the TV may not be permitted in the byzantine logic of intellectual property protection. They’re afraid that you’re going to digitize the analog output (the so-called analog hole) and “steal” their movies.

Its all a royal pain.

Can A DVD rental store tell if you copied a movie onto a computer using a 3rd party program?

I mean like can they tell if you used a program such as "Magic DVD Ripper" or any of the other various programs to make copy of the DVD for your computer before returning it to the video store.

How quickly netflix send and receive dvd a month per customer?

I ve been thinking about stop using tv cable and go solo with netflix. It would save me $500 a year. 8.99/ month unlimited. I am wondering how many dvds people can get most in a month? Depend what their plan. one dvd at a time, 2 dvds at a time and 3 dvd at a time. Just give me your average monthly and whats your plan. It would help alot to give me an idea. Thanks!!

it depends on how far the closest netflix thing is. I live in new york, and when I ship the Dvd, they get it the next day and (unless its a saturday or sunday) they ship the next dvd that same day, so i'll get it the day after. So 2 days.
So if I send it wednesday morning, I'll get the DVD on friday. If I watch it friday night and send it Saturday morning, they'll get it and receive it on monday and you'll get your next DVD on Tuesday. So you can probably get 2-3 dvds per week, if you watch it the same day.
And remember, they can receive the DVD on a saturday (no mail on sunday) but they wont ship the next one until monday. So if you want a DVD on saturday, ship it no later than thursday.
