How to set up a computer so that you can watch internet videos (such as netflix) on your tv. ?

How to set up a computer so that you can watch internet videos (such as netflix) on your tv. I also would like to be able to watch and record tv on the pc or burn shows and movies to dvd that is compatible with common dvd players.

You are borderline talking about a HTPC (Home Theater PC). Unfortunately it seems over complicated because of all the different types of video inputs/outputs currently in use. There’s a couple things you need…

1) How to hook computer up to TV ::
You need to know what type of inputs your TV has. You’ll need one of: DVI, VGA, HD Component, or S-Video. If you don’t have an HDTV then S-Video will probably be your only option.
Now you need to find a matching output for your computer. Most computers already have either VGA or DVI. If you don’t have matching connections then you’ll need a new video card that has an output that matches one of your TVs inputs.

For example, this video card has all the outputs: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130085

2) Recording on the PC ::

2a) Hardware
You’ll need either a video capture card or tv tuner card to be able to record on your PC. Most PVR type software works better with tv tuner cards.

2b) Software
You’ll also need software for recording. Most tv tuner cards come with something, or you could try something like Media Portal (free) http://www.team-mediaportal.com/

Good luck!
